Start With One Thing
One of the easiest mistakes we can make is believing that becoming a better Mason requires doing something extraordinary.
Usually, it doesn’t.
The Craft teaches us through small things: a square placed against our actions, a plumb reminding us to walk uprightly, a level reminding us how we should regard others. None of those lessons require a special occasion to put them to work.
So don’t try to improve everything today.
Choose one thing.
Say the prayer you’ve been rushing through. Make the phone call you’ve been putting off. Show someone a little more patience. Help without being asked. Spend ten minutes learning something you didn’t know yesterday.
A craftsman doesn’t build the whole structure with one swing of the tool. He makes one good cut, then another.
Your life works much the same way.
Today’s Work:
Before the day is over, choose one deliberate action that puts a Masonic principle into practice.
Tonight, ask yourself:
Did I leave something—or someone—a little better than I found it?
Masonry works when it’s done daily.
