Go Back to the Source

When we need an answer, we have no shortage of places to look.

We ask a friend.
Search the internet.
Read another opinion.
Listen to another voice.

There is nothing wrong with seeking good counsel.

But sometimes we become so busy searching for a new answer that we forget to return to the truths that have already guided us.

Prayer.

Scripture.

The obligations we have taken.

The principles we were taught long before today’s problem appeared.

Not every difficult question has an easy answer. But before adding another voice to the conversation, it may be worth becoming quiet enough to hear the ones that have already shaped your life.

Open the Bible.

Spend a few minutes in prayer.

Return to a Masonic lesson you’ve known for years and ask what it requires of you now.

Sometimes we don’t need another lesson.

We need to return to the one we haven’t finished living.

Today’s Work: Before seeking another answer today, spend a few quiet minutes with one source of truth that has already helped shape the man you are trying to become.
