The Brother Who Notices

Sometimes the most important work a Mason can do begins with simply paying attention.

We notice when a Brother misses a meeting. We notice when someone who usually has a smile seems unusually quiet. We notice when a familiar voice hasn’t been heard in a while.

But noticing and acting are two different things.

It’s easy to assume someone else will make the call, send the message, or ask whether everything is all right.

Yet Brotherly Love isn’t simply something we promise within the Lodge. It’s something we practice beyond its doors.

A Brother doesn’t always need advice. Sometimes he just needs to know someone noticed his absence, remembered his name, or cared enough to ask how he’s doing.

And that small gesture may mean more than we’ll ever know.

Today’s Work:

Think of a Brother you haven’t heard from recently. Take a moment to call or send him a message.

Don’t make it complicated. Simply let him know he’s been on your mind.

And if he needs to talk, take the time to listen.

Tonight, ask yourself:

Did I take time to notice someone beyond myself today?
