Before You Begin the Work.
A craftsman usually doesn’t begin his work by simply grabbing a tool and swinging.
He first considers what needs to be done.
Our days deserve the same attention.
It is easy to wake up and immediately let the world begin setting our agenda—messages, appointments, responsibilities, problems, and all the little things demanding our attention.
Before all of that, take a moment for prayer.
Prayer doesn’t have to be lengthy or eloquent. Sometimes it may be no more than asking God for wisdom to make good decisions, patience with the people you will encounter, and the strength to do the work placed before you.
The important thing is simply to begin there.
Before you start building the day, remember Who you are building it with.
Today’s Work:
Before getting too far into your day, stop for a few quiet minutes of prayer.
Ask for guidance not only in what you accomplish today, but in how you treat the people you meet along the way.
Tonight, ask yourself:
Did the way I lived today reflect what I asked for this morning?
Masonry works when it’s done daily.
