Finish the Small Thing
Some unfinished work is important.
And some of it is simply small.
The tool that needs to be returned.
The five-minute repair we’ve walked past for a week.
The note we’ve been meaning to send.
The paperwork sitting on the corner of the desk.
The promise that began with, “I’ll take care of that.”
None of these things may seem particularly important by themselves. But unfinished work has a way of occupying more space in our minds than the work itself requires.
A craftsman understands something about finishing.
The work isn’t complete simply because most of it is done.
Neither is ours.
Today, don’t begin another project just to feel productive. Look around for one small thing you’ve already started, promised, borrowed, postponed, or left undone.
Then finish it.
Not because it will change the world.
Because keeping small commitments is one of the ways we build a dependable man.
And sometimes five minutes with the working tools can clear something that’s been sitting on the Trestle Board for weeks.
Today’s Work: Identify one small unfinished task you’ve been carrying longer than necessary—and finish it today.
Masonry works when it’s done daily.
